Here Christmas, Kitty!

5th Grade Paul Klee "Santa Hat" Cats
Parents, teachers, and students enjoy seeing Christmas artwork during the holiday season.  During any holiday season or themed event at school, I always want to keep the "true meaning" of art in the air.  I want the elements and principles sprinkled in through all art activities.  In the activity below, we managed to hit on some of the elements and principles and teach a little about artist Paul Klee.
It is with great pleasure, I share our Christmas cats inspired the Artist Paul Klee (1879-1940).  Did you know that Paul Klee hung out with Wassily Kandinsky?

Directions:
Draw the cat with pencil.
Outline with Sharpie.
Paint the background with acrylic.
Paint the cat.
Re-outline with black oil pastel.

Here's a "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.  At the beginning of the video, there is a brief history of the origins of the song.  The end of the video flashes that Harry Chapin was killed in a car crash at 38.  A solid song ranked the 4th saddest song ever by Rolling Stone Magazine.  (click here for link)
