Mama's Purple Coneflower, Pointillism, and George Seurat

The purple coneflower is a really artsy plant.  So why not get kids to do art with it?  






Directions:
I had kids put a yellow wash on their paper.
I showed the video below on Seurat and Pointillism.  Cute video!



I had kids look at a picture of the purple coneflower.


The kids drew their version of the purple coneflower.
I told them to use their middle finger as a tool for the length of the leaves.
Kids outlined gently with oil pastels.
Kids used Q-tips to dot and DOT ONLY on the stem and flower petals.
Kids touched up with oil pastels.

Wow, the purple coneflower almost as cool as Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze.
