an old screen influenced by jasper...and a little story about a very creative student

by karen #1965 3rd grade teacher my friend was redoing her house and she had taken off these screens and they were sitting in a corner in her garage.i thot...like many of you...possibilities...so i took the screen...and put lots of paint of it...that is the thing with being an artist...u see something when many see nothing....and a lot of the nothing they see will eventually be trash...i see these traits in my students...the artsy dig in the classroom trash can and make something...i watch closely and absolutely love it..cause i know that one day these little people will be big people and do big things for us old things to enjoy...

me and my most creative student that i have ever taught...i am bubble gum stuck under a hot pink converse shoe that is on my head...she is a chicken farmer...
this is her desk during a day with a little time for art..the chick-fil-a boxes on the green stool?..yeah, she uses them to store stuff...
but, this is her desk at the end of the day...we artists clean up...eventually...and sometimes with a little encouragement from others...
wherever you walk, look for stuff (like paintballs that kids use when playing with paintball guns...they are full of color and fun)...wherever you ride, look for stuff (old hubcaps make cool art)...when you fly, just look at God's art (take a mental picture of it)....................................but i still haven't found what i'm looking for (U2, 1987)........Happy February 15, 2010!
